HR Isn't Slowing Your Business Down. Misalignment Is.

Execution usually slows down long before HR gets involved.

When initiatives stall, HR often gets blamed.

The hiring plan is delayed. Performance conversations aren't happening. A restructuring takes longer than expected. It's easy to conclude that HR is moving too slowly.

In reality, the delay usually started much earlier.

Leaders haven't aligned on what success looks like. Managers have different expectations. Decisions haven't been clearly assigned, and trade-offs haven't been discussed. HR becomes the function trying to operationalize decisions that were never fully made.

Before launching a new initiative, I encourage leadership teams to answer a few simple questions: What decision are we actually making? Who owns it? What trade-offs are we willing to accept? How will we know we've succeeded?

When those questions are answered early, execution becomes much faster. Not because HR worked harder - but because the organization stopped working against itself.

Alignment isn't a meeting. It's a prerequisite for execution.
